The UK Payments Council has announced that it will no longer scrap cheques by 2018.

“This is a fantastic result for the many East Lothian residents who like to pay by cheque.
“Cheques are still widely used, particularly by elderly constituents, who use them for paying essential household bills and to donate to good causes.
“However this is a decision that is not only important for customers but also for the many small businesses, charities and voluntary groups in East Lothian, who will be delighted by this news.
